About Our Products:

From start to finish, our entire candle making process is hands on, ensuring that every candle is up to our soy-called standards. With our focus on quality, we only use the best ingredients:

• All Packaging is Recyclable or Compostable

How We Started:

Soy-Called Candle Company started as a pandemic hobby that quickly grew into something more. I’ve been a candle lover ever since I was trusted to burn them. Toward the end of 2020, I learned about some of the concerns involving paraffin wax and some of the wicks commonly used in the candle industry, including the ones I was always burning. It shocked me that these products are so widely marketed, without informing people of what they are burning in their home and the potential risks that come with it. Which is when I decided to make my own. I never planned to start a candle business, but once I started making them, I found something I enjoyed, that could easily be enjoyed by others. And now here we are. Once I made things official, my girlfriend joined the team. We wanted to go a step past just providing a clean burning candle, so we do everything with sustainability in mind. We try to make all of our containers easily reusable, but once you run out of uses, they can be recycled! Our jar labels are made with recycled paper, and the wax melt packaging and labels are fully compostable. We also have a partnership that allows you to donate to various initiatives to offset the carbon emissions of your order!

Jared:

Hey there! I am the one who started all this! I am a recent graduate of Central Michigan University, where I studied marketing, logistics and sales. I raced my way through school only to graduate and realize I didn’t want to sign my life away in service to a company that doesn’t care about me or the things that are important to me. That is when I decided to try to build something for myself. I never thought I would enjoy making candles so much but now that I’m doing it, I don’t want to do anything else. I’ve really loved learning all about candles and testing various containers, wicks, and fragrances to create the perfect candle for your home.

 

Laurie:

Hello I’m Laurie, and I’m the second and only other member of the team! I attend Oakland University and will graduate with a nursing degree in 2023. Outside of school I enjoy finding creative outlets and helping with the candles has been a perfect fit. I’m the one responsible for designing the label you see on the jars and have been working on some other sustainable handmade products.
